大學指考、學測及全民英檢中高級的英文字彙屬於基本且必需學會的單字，

但光熟悉這些單字要閱讀一般普通的英文文章、書籍、報紙、雜誌，字彙量仍

嫌相當不足，所以我想將能流利閱讀英文所需的單字，大致很完整地整理出來

，而我所列的是全民英檢中高級以上的單字，但絕不列冷僻字、罕用字。

arbiter [}ArbDtQ] n. 1. 仲裁人；調停人                     

She will act as the final arbiter in the matter.

               2. 權威人士；權威 

He is regarded as an arbiter of taste in the world of jazz.

fiddle['f0dl] v. 1. fiddle with : 不斷擺弄；亂動

She stopped listening and started fiddling with her hair.

~ nervously fiddling with her pen

           2. fiddle around : 浪費時間；虛度光陰 (英式 = fiddle about )

Stop fiddling around.   [ fiddle around = fool around ]

         n. 小提琴violin

fidget ['f0dI0t] v. 1. 坐立不安；煩躁 fiddle

The children started fidgeting in their seats because they were bored.

Sit still and stop fidgeting!

             2. fidget with(由於厭煩而) 擺弄；撥弄
